SEIBERT COLLECTION
Located in the Heckmannhöfe in front of Berlin's Museum Island, the Seibert Collection is a distinctive and vibrant addition to the city's art scene.
Unlike anything you'd normally see in Berlin or Germany, the collection features figurative, colorful and playful pieces that can be roughly categorized as lowbrow art or pop-comic-surrealism. Many works come from the US West Coast and bring the light and fun of the California sun—a striking contrast to Berlin's often serious and heavy art.
Many of these artists are icons of the lowbrow scene in the US, such as Ron English, Ray Caesar, Marion Peck, and Eric Joyner. The collection also includes artists who might not consider themselves part of the lowbrow movement (but fit perfectly): Kenny Scharf, Jeff Koons, Terry Rodgers, as well as works by Berlin-based artists like Martin Eder.
The Seibert Collection is not just an exhibition of individual works of art, but a complete installation in itself (a Gesamtkunstwerk), with murals by Pablo Perra, Vera Kochubey, and Roman Frechen, custom-made and very special frames, wall designs, lighting, and furniture—all of which complement each other to create a unified artistic environment. The focus is on the overall composition, where each element contributes to the collector's coherent artistic vision.
Ulrich Seibert, the collector, is a professor, business law expert, and stock market investor whose devotion to art is driven solely by joy of life and not by profit.
Since its opening in 2019, the Seibert Collection showroom has hosted countless private events for friends of the collection, as well as for supporters of museums, cultural institutions, and patrons. It has also welcomed visits from private collectors and provided space for film and photo shoots. The collection is a place of positive energy and good vibrations, which is the main reason for its existence.
