Double Take
Jean-Paul Najar Foundation hosts acclaimed French artist Christian Bonnefoi for a solo exhibition.
Dubai’s Jean-Paul Najar Foundation hosts acclaimed French artist Christian Bonnefoi for a solo exhibition of seminal works from the collection as well as recent paintings.
In Bonnefoi’s first exhibition in the Middle East, “Double Take”, which was curated by Slyvie Turpin and has shown more than 20 exhibitions of the artist, will showcase a newly commissioned installation for the museum as well as the first viewing of the “Diagramme” – a complex organisational chart of Bonnefoi’s works.
A long time friend and protégé of Najar, Bonnefoi’s exhibition at the Jean-Paul Najar Foundation will include paintings that were made at the beginning of his career and show the development and growth of his career of the years. With an initial focus on pre-war artists such as Picasso and Matisse, Bonnefoi later found himself being drawn to American expressionism and minimalism, and it was during this time that he defined his method that he follows to this day.
Here, we show a selection of artworks and installation views from Christian Bonnefoi’s “Double Take”.
The Jean-Paul Najar Foundation is featured in the BMW ART GUIDE by INDEPENDENT COLLECTORS.
