Thirty one years ago, at the age of twenty one, collector Ramin Salsali started to collect art and hasn’t stopped since.
Twenty six years later he opened the Salsali Private Museum in Dubai – a contemporary art space dedicated to the culture and joy of collecting which enabled Salsali to accomplish his long sought after dream to share his passion for art with a larger audience.
Next to showcasing Salsali’s extensive collection, the venue hosts the collections of guest collectors and traveling exhibitions from around the world. The museum offers local and international art collectors a platform to connect with each other and engage with artists, galleries and the creative community of the region, whilst further engaging in the development of Dubai as an evolving hub for the art and culture of the Middle East.
Today, Salsali’s collection contains more than 900 pieces including paintings, photography, video art, sculptures and installations by Middle Eastern artists such as Mona Hatoum, and Shirin Neshat, which sit alongside international stars like Arman, Niki de Saint Phalle, Jonathan Meese, André Butzer, Fischli/Weiss, Meret Oppenheim, and Daniel Richter.
In this Online Exhibition exclusive to IC, Salsali selected some recent favorites from his collection, focusing on works by Manal Al Dowayan, Hazem Harb, Pantea Rahamni, Wall Fantasma, Ramtin Zad, Sara Rahbar, Reza Derakhshani and Amir Hossein Zanjani in particular.
