Discovering and Supporting Emerging Urban and Street Artists

Andrew Jovic, known as Cyberkid70 on Instagram, is a passionate art collector with Croatian roots, residing in Düsseldorf, Germany, alongside his wife, Julia. For him, art is more than just a collection—it is a lifelong passion, a daily source of inspiration, and a way to support emerging artists.
His fascination with collecting began at a young age, starting with action figures, trading cards, films, vinyl records, and stamps. However, his true interest in art took shape around the year 2000 when he discovered electronic music, particularly the work of the Düsseldorf-based band Kraftwerk. This interest eventually led him to the ZERO movement, an avant-garde art movement pioneered by artists such as Günther Uecker, Heinz Mack, and Otto Piene. A chance encounter with a printing company that produced editions for these artists marked the beginning of his journey as an art collector.
A pivotal moment came in 2015 when he watched the Banksy documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop. The film opened his eyes to the world of street art, sparking an immediate fascination. He traveled to London, visited galleries, and started collecting works by renowned artists such as Banksy, Invader, and Shepard Fairey. However, over time, he realized that his true passion lay not in acquiring works from established names but in discovering and supporting young, emerging artists who were at the start of their careers and in need of recognition and encouragement.

Today, Jovic's focus is entirely on emerging talent. He doesn’t just invest in their work; he invests in them as individuals. For him, collecting is not only about the artwork itself but also about the artist behind it. A genuine connection with the creator is essential—he seeks to understand their personality, vision, and passion before acquiring their work.
Düsseldorf provides the perfect backdrop for this mission. Actively involved in initiatives and events that support young artists, he engages in exhibitions, collaborations, and direct sponsorships. Regularly attending art fairs, gallery openings, and shows, he remains at the forefront of the evolving art world. However, for him, personal contact remains paramount—art is deeply personal, shaped by the people who create it.
To stay ahead in the dynamic art scene, he travels extensively, attending major international art fairs such as Art Basel in Switzerland, Miami, and Hong Kong; Frieze London and New York; The Armory Show; FIAC; Art Cologne, and many more. These events offer invaluable opportunities to engage with galleries, curators, and, most importantly, artists. His demanding travel schedule, however, would not be possible without the unwavering support of his wife, Julia, who not only shares his passion for art but also provides constant encouragement and perspective throughout their journey.

Social media plays a crucial role in his work. Through his Instagram account (@cyberkid70), he shares his collection and art insights, offers perspectives on the urban and street art scene, and discovers new artists. Platforms like Instagram have revolutionized the art world, making it more accessible and fostering direct connections between artists and collectors. Yet, despite the digital shift, he remains true to his belief that an artwork alone is not enough—he must meet the artist, understand their vision, and feel their passion.
Jovic sees himself not just as a collector but as a connector. His mission is to help emerging artists find their audience and gain the recognition they deserve. By providing visibility and support, he actively contributes to their journey. He firmly believes that true art isn’t confined to established galleries but often originates in small studios, hidden corners of the city, and places yet to be discovered. It is in these spaces that he finds the art that truly inspires him.
