Italian collector Guido Galimberti is someone who sees the world in multiples.
CÉSAR & MARTIAL RAYSSE, Conserve Expansion, 1969
Italian collector Guido Galimberti is someone who sees the world in multiples. After being introduced to the world of art by his passionate-art-collector-father and buying his first artwork aged just twenty years old, an Andy Warhol “Flowers”, Galimberti’s interest in collecting never showed signs of slowing down.
What could be seen as a “true collector”, Galimberti’s interest in owning things does not just stop at contemporary art but also spreads to toys, antiques, and of course multiples. Adopting a light-hearted, playful approach to collecting, Galimberti is known for combining works of art and objects together that would never normally be found in the same room, let alone the same presentation at the Fondazione Opera.
In his second Online Exhibition on Independent Collectors, here Galimberti presents rare contemporary art multiples from his collection, Fondazione Opera.
Multiples, whether they are sculptures, ready- made, graphics, artist books, sound recordings, follow the evolution of arts since the first deflagrations of the 1960s, tending to re-zero the object and then become established practice in all their forms.
