With a strong focus on topics that surround identity, social commentary, injustice and appropriation, the Rennie Collection is one of Canada’s largest and most important collections.
Located in the heart of Vancouver’s Chinatown, the Rennie Museum is a privately funded space displaying works from the contemporary collection of real estate marketer Bob Rennie. Two to three solo or group exhibitions presented throughout the year are curated from the Rennie Collection, which includes of over 1 700 works acquired in the last thirty years.
Exhibited artists include John Baldessari, Rodney Graham, Mona Hatoum, Thomas Houseago, Mike Kelley, Kerry James Marshall, Rebecca Warren, and Turner Prize winners Martin Creed and Simon Starling. The collection is active with acquisitions and loans to institutions worldwide.
Opened in 2009, the museum is the fruition of more than four years of thoughtful restoration and renovation, creating elegant, clean lines that integrate with the rich historic elements of the Wing Sang Building, a heritage designation and the oldest building in Chinatown.
