Curated together with Agata Jastrząbek, the exhibition presents a diverse selection of works created from functional objects and materials that have been stripped of their utility to propose alternate realities.
Shown during Art Brussels 2016 in a former mental health facility, the Frédéric de Goldschmidt Collection’s “Not Really Really” presented works and objects that were removed from the material world and undergoing various transformations to tackle a variety of subjects, including car water containers blown in Murano glass, fans mounted on Belgian beer bottles, dishes cast in concrete, flattened silverware suspended in the air, and salt blocks shaped by donkey tongues.
In addition to the seventy-one works in the collection, four artists, Joël Andrianomearisoa, Loup Sarion, Benoit Platéus and Jean-François Boclé, have been commissioned to create site-specific installations responding to the space and elaborating further on the exhibition concept.
Here, we share views inside “Not Really Really”.

For those who missed “Not Really Really” last year, it will be partially open from Wednesday 8th March 2017 to Saturday 11th March 2017 for a special occasion – twenty Brussels-based organizations working in the field of mental health have asked their clients to create art works inspired by pieces from the exhibition. Their works will be shown next to the original work.
