The G2 Kunsthalle houses the private collection of Steffen which focuses on contemporary painting of the 21st century including drawings, prints, sculptures and various media specifically from the New Leipzig School.
In addition to being the official home of the Hildebrand Collection, the G2 Kunsthalle organizes exhibitions in collaboration with a range of contemporary artists. With every new exhibition on show the Hildebrand Collection also rotates its permanent collection, creating a relationship between exhibition and collection. Each new presentation (permanent collection and exhibition) is labelled with a number, with the most recent being “G2 #5” with the exhibition “”THROUGH A GLASS, CLEARLY” on display.
“THROUGH A GLASS, CLEARLY” showcases new works on paper from artists Sebastian Burger and Stefan Guggisberg. The exhibition looks at creating a dialogue between the two artist positions that both have parallels in their artistic development. The works presented in the exhibition give visitors an opportunity to understand and perceive the artistic and technical differentiation of each of their approaches.
In the first IC Online Exhibition with the G2 Kunsthalle, we show you works from the permanent collection of the Hildebrand Collection as well as installation views from “THROUGH A GLASS, CLEARLY”.
