The Stolbun Collection presents “March 8th 2022”, likely the only exhibition at Ferndale–Seth Stolbun’s rental home, as captured by his iPhone. The exhibition showcases a selection of works from The Stolbun Collection and the images below represent a selection of works at Ferndale.
“Today is March 8th 2022. Exactly two years ago I left my Lower East Side New York apartment and headed to La Guardia to fly back to my hometown of Houston. Recovering from the crazy Armory week that had just ended, I had a casual Sunday afternoon meeting with a few friends to discuss how we wanted to shape our art and technology based reading group over the coming months. I thought I would be back in the city in a couple of weeks. However, as you now expect to hear, I never returned. All my art and possessions were packed for me in the late summer and sent down to my hometown of Houston, where I have been for much of the ongoing pandemic.
I have just moved into a new rental home in Houston that I’m calling Ferndale. I’m here waiting for construction to begin on my new house. Like many of us, I’ve moved a lot during the pandemic, trying to find the safest and best life / work from home conditions / balance. Hopefully this is the last move before my home is completed (fingers crossed).
While we all look forward to the future and hope that the worst of the pandemic is behind us, it is important to find meaning and joy in the present. My housekeeper has just finished cleaning my home and nearly all the art has been installed. Knowing this is all temporary, I have taken a less precious and precise approach to displaying artworks, finding playful makeshift ways to display and store the work.”
