Located in the Belgian seaside resort of Ostend, the Vanmoerkerke Collection is one of the most important private collections of European and American Post-Conceptual Art in the world.
Started in 1998 by Mark Vanmoerkerke, the collection found its home in the renovated war-time building in 2008, and now houses over 1 000 works of European and American Contemporary Art, including artists such as Ed Ruscha, Maurizio Cattelan and Christopher Wool.
But just showing the artworks from the collection is not enough for this collector, with Vanmoerkerke having a sharp focus on quality rather than quantity. To ensure that the space remains exciting not just for him but also for the visitors, Vanmoerkerke invites a new curator to put on a show every six months, with previous curators including Belgian cult curator Jan Hoet, museum director Nicolaus Schafhausen, gallerist Leo König and artist David Claerbout to name a few.
Here, we present works from the Vanmoerkerke Collection in their first online exhibition on IC.
