AAL – Arte Al Límite Collection
The collection that was founded upon the goal of making a contribution to culture and to encourage creativity.
The Arte Al Límite Collection (AAL) initially started from the family interest in making a contribution to culture, to encourage creation, and to strengthen the ties to the visual and our understanding of the world.
Collector Ana Maria Matthei’s intention is to highlight and democratize art so that it is possible to be an artist, that the world can indeed be observed from a single room, and that art can be collected.
The selection was built upon these shared interests, in pieces and efforts that the Matthei’s believe have potential, or that are already well established, in both biennials and museums, art fairs and galleries that they have visited all over the world during the last twenty years. The Matthei’s also considered the opinion of important curators, collaborators, and critics that have brought their knowledge to the table in order to make the collection a cultural contribution. Several techniques and themes are featured in the work of budding and renowned artists, with a national or international trajectory.
For the first time in 2017 Ana Maria Matthei exhibited part of the Arte Al Límite (AAL) collection at Espacio Fundación Telefónica de Chile, located in the center of the capital. The exhibition included a range of approaches to visual arts from many parts of the world that were held in privileged halls, as well as including educational content. Moreover, there were conversations with artists at the Fundación Cultural Providencia, the Mapocho Cultural Center, and the Posada del Corregidor Gallery in order to offer a varied and contingent, exhibition.
Finally, as a family, the Matthei’s hope to have their own exhibition space for AAL soon and hold exhibitions in cultural centers of the country and Latin America to achieve our goal: making art accessible for everyone.
Here, we present a selection of artworks from the Arte Al Límite Collection.
