In their second IC Online Exhibition, Leipzig’s G2 Kunsthalle celebrates its second anniversary of the foundation with a selection of new acquisitions from the Hildebrand Collection, showing the evolution without losing its origins that are at the core of the collection.
With G2 “#6 New Acquisitions”, the Kunsthalle reaches an international audience, and for the first time it gives major consideration to new media and to subjects that, up until this point, had not been at the centre of attention within the collection. Three main themes surround the exhibition – natural philosophy, strategies of appropriation after existing art works and structures of power in politics and the arts. Exhibiting works from both national and international contemporary artists (in parallel to the permanent collection), G2 “#6 New Acquisitions” includes paintings, works on paper, photographs and installations by Judith Bernstein, Melissa Gordon, Anne Imhof, Jeanette Mundt, Raymond Pettibon, Daniel Steegmann Mangrané and Rirkrit Tiravanija to name just a few.
The arrangement of the works was curated in terms of diversity and plurality, whilst maintaing a respect and understanding of the works in the permanent collection that are shown in the shared space. The permanent collection includes artworks by Henriette Grahnert, Uwe Kowski, Peter Krauskopf, Rosa Loy, Neo Rauch, Daniel Richter, Christoph Ruckhäberle, David Schnell, Matthias Weischer and many other mainly Leipzig artists.
Here, we share installation views from the new exhibition, G2 “#6 New Acquisitions”.

As a curator, one of my main goals is to encourage a dialogue between different artistic positions from varied backgrounds and younger emerging names and bring them into a dialogue with art works by established artists.
