The JM SR Collection reflects on the society of today, making a statement on the problems and ideas that come out of the world we live in.

Whilst all the artists featured in the José Mauricio Sanchez Ruiz Collection may differ with their chosen mediums and artistic disciplines, they all focus on questioning the future of the contemporary art scene is headed, mixing old and new techniques and resulting in unique and often striking works.

With no strict theme running throughout the collection, it is vital for José Mauricio Sanchez Ruiz that all artworks featured are bought online with Instagram and YouTube being the preferred platforms for research, quickly followed by deeper research into an artist via their website, an interview, or direct contact with a gallery to enquire about further information and pricing. With this in mind, Ruiz states that one of the main aims within the collection is to represent the new way of collecting today, by using social media and the internet to open the many possibilities of buying art online through good research and a passion for the artist.

Speaking about the artists in the collection, Ruiz said that “the artist needs to fill my expectation of being totally new with techniques and materials that further open the door for young artists to know that it is possible to gain success in the art world with a medium other than painting.”

I’ve broken the personal barrier of being able to fall in love with a work without not seeing it in person first. It’s the feeling of something that I have fallen in love with, but I cannot touch it or see it until it arrives at my door. Once the package has arrived I open the box, take the work out and immediately install it in my home. This is then the end destination of an amazing journey that all began with my iPad pro.
